Bush Pleaded with Blanco, Nagin to Evacuate New Orleans

More evidence of poor leadership in New Orleans, all the way up to the governer's office. Hat Tip to Machiavel at RedState.org for this one.
A history lesson for those who believe this all Bush's fault... God knows what would have happened had the President not interceded with Gov. Blanco to order a mandatory evacuation of the city -- that was already a long time in coming.
Gov. Kathleen Blanco, standing beside the mayor at a news conference, said President Bush called and personally appealed for a mandatory evacuation for the low-lying city, which is prone to flooding.

"There doesn't seem to be any relief in sight," Blanco said.

She said Interstate 10, which was converted Saturday so that all lanes headed one-way out of town, was total gridlock.

"We are facing a storm that most of us have long feared," Nagin said.

I have to agree with Machiavel: Nagin and Blanco are out of their league!
